David Berman
Managing Partner
David is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Lorient Capital, a healthcare-focused lower middle market private equity firm he built from inception to nearly $2 billion in assets under management across three funds. He leads the firm’s investment strategy, business development, and organizational growth. Since founding Lorient, David has overseen the acquisition and growth of companies across urgent care, dental, geriatrics, veterinary, value-based care, behavioral health, payments, franchising, and health technology. He has led the firm’s growth from Fund I through Fund III, which closed at $500 million. His work spans sourcing and executing investments, and developing the internal systems and culture that support a growing team and portfolio. Earlier in his career, David led strategy for what is now HarmonyCares, a former division of Centene, overseeing significant expansion and helping build one of the country’s most successful ACOs. He began his career in investment banking at Ziegler and J.P. Morgan. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland.
Beyond The Bio
David is a licensed commercial pilot and spent much of his childhood in India, where his parents led healthcare development projects. Those early experiences shaped a genuine interest in organizations that deliver care at scale, which is a thread that runs through everything Lorient does. Known for seeking out the perfect bowl of ramen or pho, he brings the same precision to evaluating a platform acquisition.
